Sailing Directions

Egå Marina is centrally located in Aarhus Bay, one of Denmark's most beautiful sailing areas.

The modern marina was inaugurated in 1978 and from the outset became the home harbour of the very active Egå Sailing Club.

Egå Marina is an excellent base for day and weekend passages to the many harbours, anchorages and islands of East Jutland.

In the northern part of Aarhus Bay you will find Kaløvig Marina, Nappedam Marina, Knebel Quay, Skødshoved Marina and Kongsgårde Quay.

To the east: Ebeltoft North Harbour, Ebeltoft Skudehavn and Øer Maritime Holiday Village.

To the south: Aarhus Marina, Marselisborg Marina, Norsminde Marina and Hou Marina.

To the south-east and south: the islands of Samsø, Tunø and Endelave.

The Danish Sailing Association has laid anchor buoys at several locations in the area. The buoys are reserved for members of the Danish Sailing Association.

The harbour is lit and can be approached day and night. Red and green lateral marks are laid outside the entrance and should be respected, especially by deep-draught vessels.

The depth at the entrance is 3.0 m and in the basin 3.0–2.2 m — speed limit 3 knots. There is adequate space for sailing manoeuvres in the outer basin. Berth at the pontoons between stern piles.

Larger vessels may berth at the outer T-ends of the pontoons. The floating jetty and fitting-out quay at the head of the harbour are for short stays only.

Keep well clear of the shore at Vejlby Hage, south of Egå Marina — large rocks lie here, marked by an east cardinal mark (BYB).

Keep well clear of the shore to the north along the Egå–Studstrup stretch due to silting in Aarhus Bay.

Sailing is prohibited in the marked area east of the harbour, including the marked channel through it.
